About Multitrack

Multitrack creates opportunities for people who are underrepresented in the audio industry on the basis of race, class and disability

We think people from all backgrounds should have an equal chance to build a career in radio and podcast production in the UK. Are you an aspiring audio producer? Find out what Multitrack can do for you.

Getting people in is one thing; making sure they want to stay is another

We don’t just want to open doors. The audio industry must embrace change from the top down, to create environments where people from all backgrounds can love their work, be heard and build the careers they want.

If you’re from a production company, broadcaster or any other corner of the existing industry, find out how you can be part of the change.

‘Barriers of social class and privilege can prevent the widest pool of people from being able to fulfil their potential, regardless of their background.’

Our story

The idea for Multitrack came out of an event in 2018 where members of the UK audio community got together to ask the question ‘How can we make our audio community better?’

After the event, a small group of volunteers decided to create a new initiative. We wanted to improve access to the audio industry for people from groups that are currently underrepresented in podcast and radio production, and may be struggling to get their break.

In 2019, we launched the first Multitrack Fellowship. Today, the Fellowship remains a core part of what Multitrack offers. But we’re also working hard to push for top down change within the existing radio and podcast industry. We’re doing this in a number of ways including: (i) through our direct work with industry partners, (ii) by providing information and resources on this website, and (iii) by undertaking research into the state of the industry, what needs to change, and how that change can be achieved.

Who are we?

The team behind Multitrack includes our board of trustees, our steering team and a collection of amazing volunteers.
